Send a source
A URL we can fetch and re-fetch. That is the whole requirement, and it is the same one every deal on the plate already meets.
Until the desk takes submissions directly, mail it: rtvik1525@gmail.com, with the URL in the body. If you know the days and hours, say so and it moves faster.
What we take
-
A page on the venue’s own domain.
Their happy hour page, their menu, their hours. Best of all, the page they update themselves.
-
The venue’s own page on a platform it books through.
A salon on Booksy or Vagaro, a kitchen on Toast. They write it, it is theirs, and we can read it again tomorrow. Most rooms outside food and drink never bought a domain, and holding out for one only meant we could not see them.
-
An official civic or chain page.
A museum’s free-days page. A chain’s own offers page. Something with the operator behind it.
-
A window we can read: which days, from when, until when.
An offer with no end can never go out of force, so it never goes in.
What we leave off
Not because these are wrong, but because we could not check them again next week, and a claim we cannot re-check is one we should not publish.
-
Aggregators and review sites.
Yelp, Groupon, a listicle. They are a claim about a claim, and we would be a third.
-
A screenshot, a story, or a photo of a chalkboard.
Nothing we can re-fetch next week is evidence. We check every source again on a sweep.
-
Your word for it.
We do not doubt you. We hold ourselves to fetching it, which means we have to be able to.
If you run the venue
Publish your own hours at one address on your own domain and we read them from you rather than from a page about you. No fee, no account, and it links back to you as the source.
Either way, the method is the same for your venue as for every other, and the desk shows what we currently cannot confirm about any of them.
